This program is open to girls ages 14-17 who want to learn a broad range of business, finance, economics, and entrepreneurial skills. This program is also geared toward college preparation. Girls in the DIVA-Preneurship program are assigned to a work site where they learn various job skills and use them! They also receive a stipend for learning and implementing their skills hands-on. Girls in the DIVA-Preneurship program have worked in food service, the fashion industry, jewelry sales and marketing, the creation and sale of skin care products, cosmetology, and more. Girls also participated in a variety of other career tracks all aimed at showing them how to run their own businesses. Financial Literacy education is a big component of DIVA-Preneurship, and as part of the program, the girls open savings accounts so they learn how to manage and save the money that they are earning.
In our Summer 2011 DIVA-Preneurship program, girls ages 14 and 15 will participate in 'Diva Makers.' In Diva Makers, these future 'fashionistas' will be introduced to career opportunities in the fashion industry to strengthen their etiquette, self-esteem, and confidence, while exploring their own sense of style. Girls ages 16 and 17 will participate in 'I Am Beauty.' They will learn about hair care, hair design, nail care (manicures and pedicures), makeup application, brow and facial waxing, and skin care in this multi-faceted program.
Enrollment Opens January 2012
