This is our signature program, a five-week, full-day, rites of passage day camp for girls 11-14 years old (girls entering grades 6-9 in the fall). It is the only program in the Richmond Metropolitan area geared toward the growth and development of African-American girls.
This fun, life-changing experience is designed to help teen and pre-teen girls gain personal power and self-confidence, and balance the mind, body, and spirit, while creating and developing deep and lasting friendships and memories. Activities during the camp include field trips, including a trip to a day spa and an overnight retreat, workshops focusing on issues teen and pre-teen girls face, journaling, team-building, cultural enrichment, and various hands-on activities.
Girls will also participate in traditional camp activities such as swimming, art/crafts, sports, and dance. In addition, each week has its own theme. The staff retention rate for the Summer Retreat is nearly 100%, so as many of our campers return year to year, they are greeted and cared for by people they know who are wholeheartedly dedicated to helping them grow into fine young women and productive citizens.
