This STEM-related program aims to close the technology divide between African-American girls and other groups by offering mentoring, training, and hands-on experience in computer technology for girls in the 11th grade. At the end of this program, there is a closing ceremony, during which the girls will present what they produced during the program (lego robots, robotic devices, etc.). There are also opportunities for girls to move from this program into the Youth Technology Program (in partnership with the Family Resource Center and ECPI University), where they build their own computer and receive a stipend, as well as scholarship opportunities to further their studies beyond high school. Girls who apply for this program must make a full year commitment and will participate in fundraising activities. The DIVA Tech program meets one day a week for 12-weeks per semester (Fall & Spring), focusing on science and engineering in the fall, and technology and mathematics in the spring.
*There is no fee for this program.
