As stated last year, the first male figure in a daughter's life is her father. The first impression of how a woman should be treated by a man, is that of her father to her mother. A strong dedicated and loving father can and will provide a foundation of security, self-confidence and positive self-esteem to carry his daughter through life. If the father has a strong and loving relationship with his daughter, it is most likely that as an adult, she won't accept anything other than the best in her relationship.
Fathers can have a significant impact in helping their daughters by focusing on their aspects of beauty outside of "physical beauty," like their emotional strength, sense of humor, loyalty to others, their intellectual strength and courage. Fathers should always continue to give daughters uplifting encouraging comments on their physical beauty as well. Fathers have the ability to make their daughters feel like beautiful princesses inside and out.

It's always a great privilege for our paper whenever we cover any program that Camp Diva is involved in. The recent Camp Diva Summer Retreat 2010 Closing Ceremony
for its young ladies was no exception. To see the great work that Camp Diva's mentoring program does for young girls cannot be commended enough. To try to capture with
words the ambiance and spirit filled affair that permeated throughout the extremely well orchestrated event, I feel will pale in comparison to actually having been there.
It was most impressive to see how the program was brilliantly constructed to have each young lady actively involved in all phases of the ceremony for the evening. [Read more...] /

Angela Patton learned that the mother of a girl in her Camp Diva summer program had terminal cancer, was unable to work and lacked medical insurance. So she rallied her network of resources to provide mother and daughter with hotel stays, food and clothing, and transportation to treatments in North Carolina. When the mother was hospitalized, Patton took the daughter into her home, supporting her for months and enrolling her in school. [Read more...] /
